At a young age, thanks to the influence of her parents, Kyoka developed an interest in music, eventually learning to play several instruments.

Despite her parents desires for her to become a musician, she decided to become a hero instead because she wanted to dedicate her work to others. When she told her parents about her plans, they were happy for her and let her walk her own path.[1]

Synopsis[]

Battle Trial Arc[]

She is teamed with Denki Kaminari as "Team G" after being randomly drawn, participating as the Hero team.[2] Kyoka uses her Earphone Jack to locate the rival team, indicating it to Denki, who advances with his Quirk ready to be used. It is unknown how well they both did in the trial itself.[3]

U.S.J. Arc[]

Momo Kyoka Denki Fight

Momo, Kyoka, and Denki fight villains at the Mountain Zone.

When actual villains invade, Kyoka is warped to the mountain area of the Unforeseen Simulation Joint along with Momo Yaoyorozu and Denki.[4] Annoyed that Denki is complaining too much, she kicks him into one of the villains, causing the villain to be electrocuted by Denki's Electrification. She then uses her Quirk to protect Denki from an attack by one of the villains.

Kyoka plugs her jacks into her boots to launch a sonic attack, causing the villains to block their ears in pain, which gives Momo the time needed to create an insulator sheet. Kyoka and Momo hide under the insulator sheet while Denki discharges a great amount of electricity, defeating the villains while Kyoka and Momo remain unharmed.[5]

Denki Hostage

Denki is taken hostage.

However, one of the villains takes the air-headed Denki hostage, forcing Kyoka and Momo to stop fighting back and remain motionless. Kyoka attempts a sneak attack by distracting the villain through conversation, but fails.

Fortunately, the villain holding Denki is shot down by Snipe, freeing Denki, with Kyoka rushing to tie up the villain. She is then seen with her class after the battle with the League of Villains is over.[6]

U.A. Sports Festival Arc[]

Kyoka Beats Bots

Kyoka defeats a pair of Villain-Bots in the Obstacle Race.

After Shota Aizawa announces that the U.A. Sports Festival is approaching, Denki says that he plans to become a Pro's sidekick after he graduates, to which Kyoka states that many people become sidekicks and fail to become real Heroes, to which she thinks that Denki is the kind of person who would become like that, which causes Denki to become crestfallen.[7] Kyoka competes in the Obstacle Race where she places twenty-first, allowing her to compete in the Cavalry Battle.[8]

In the Human Cavalry Battle, she teams up with Rikido Sato, Koji Koda, and Toru Hagakure while Toru is the rider. When the Human Cavalry Battle begins, Kyoka uses her Quirk to try and grab Izuku Midoriya's headband due to Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu's stating it's just a big battle for it, but Fumikage uses his Dark Shadow to block her attack.[9] Later in the Human Cavalry Battle, her team charges towards Shoto Todoroki's team, but her team gets zapped by Denki and frozen by Shoto's team.[10] Her team fails to qualify to the next round when her team lost the Human Cavalry Battle.[11]

However, as Kyoka and the girls walk out, they realize they have been tricked. Kyoka then calls Denki and Minoru idiots.[12] During the recreational events, Kyoka is seen sitting still in her cheerleader outfit while watching Mina Ashido, Ochaco Uraraka, Tsuyu Asui, and Toru cheer-lead.[13]

As the match between Ochaco and Katsuki begins, Kyoka comments that she might look away the entire time.[14] During the match between Ochaco and Katsuki, Kyoka averts her eyes from the match when seeing Katsuki's explosion assault on Ochaco.[15] Kyoka along with her class watches the closing ceremony of U.A.'s Sports Festival.[16]

Kyoka Jiro chooses her hero name

Kyoka chooses Earphone Jack as her hero name.

Two days after the Sports Festival, Kyoka is in class. During the Hero Informatics period, Class 1-A has to decide on Hero names. Kyoka gives Denki an idea for his Hero name: Jamming Way, causing Denki to reply that her idea was good, as it references the intellectual: Hemingway. But Kyoka revealed she was just using that name as a means to make fun of Denki, leaving him disappointed. Kyoka writes down and shows her Hero name to her classmates. Kyoka reveals her Hero name to be Earphone Jack, the Hearing Hero.[17]

After Class 1-A has finished formulating their hero names, Kyoka is given a list of 40 workplaces in order to choose a workplace that she would like to train at. On the day of the workplace training, Kyoka is at the train station with her class so that she can go to the workplace of her choice by train.[18]

Kyoka interns under Death Arms

Kyoka's field training.

Kyoka chose Death Arms for her Hero Agency Internships. Death Arms works out Kyoka hard in the field. He makes her run during patrol and she barely keeps up with him. Kyoka thinks to herself about much harder her training is compared to school.[19] Later, Kyoka helps Death Arms rescue civilians from a hostage situation. She uses her Quirk to figure out how many hostages were taken. Kyoka escorts them both to safety after Death Arms rushes in.[20]

The workplace training comes to an end and Kyoka returns to U.A. After Foundational Hero Studies is finished, Kyoka catches up with Tsuyu and Mina and she is amazed by Tsuyu's activities. She is among the students bearing witness to the gamma race, where she and Momo count Izuku out since his Quirk has repercussions. They are quickly proven wrong when Izuku shows off his new moves and they are surprised as well as amazed at his better control of his Quirk and lead in the race until he trips causing him to lose.[21]

Kyoka embarassed

Kyoka feeling let down after not being mentioned.

Later on, Kyoka is in the girls' locker room where she uses her earphone jacks to hear Minoru's plan to peek on the girls, making the list of things he wants to see from each one but without mentioning Kyoka. She plugs one of her earphone jacks into the hole which stabs Minoru's eye, stopping Minoru from peeking. Though thanked by the other girls, an embarrassed and insecure Kyoka wonders why she was the only one he did not mention.[22]

Final Exams Arc[]

WATCH YO MOUTH

Kyoka upsets Present Mic by questioning his capability as a hero.

One week before the end of term test, Kyoka asks Momo to help her study. Throughout the final week before the end of term test, Kyoka studies under Momo's tutoring along with Denki, Mina, Mashirao and Hanta. On the day of the exercise test, Mr. Principal reveals that Class 1-A will be fighting against U.A.'s teachers for their First Term Final Exam.[23] Kyoka is paired with Koji and they must face Present Mic in their exam.

Koji, Kyoka and Present Mic arrive in an uninhabited city where Class 1-A's test exercise will take place. In the city, Kyoka mocks Present Mic for what she takes as a poor reference, to which Present Mic tells her to be careful with what she says. Present Mic explains the 30-minute test; Kyoka and Koji must either handcuff him or one of them must escape the battlefield within 30 minutes in order to win and pass the test. The test begins.[24]

Kyoka Jiro vs Present Mic

Kyoka's Counter-Balance cancels out Present Mic's Voice.

Kyoka plugs in her Earphone Jacks to try and block out Present Mic's loud voice, but to no avail. Annoyed by Present Mic's loud voice, Kyoka tells Koji to command the nearby animals to attack but Koji is unable to due to Present Mic's voice making the animals wild and as a result, any command he gave would be useless.

Kyoka and Koji manage to get a little closer to the escape gate, but Kyoka notes that Present Mic will be at the escape gate and that no matter what option of victory they choose, a standoff is inevitable. Present Mic uses his loud voice again; Kyoka notes that they cannot get any closer as long as Present Mic is using his Quirk. Kyoka sees an ant and comes up with an idea; she asks Koji if he can control bugs but his terrified reaction indicates that he doesn't like bugs. Present Mic uses his loud voice once again; Kyoka tries to counteract with her Earphone Jacks and use Counter-Balance on Present Mic's voice.

Kyoka's ears are bleeding

Ignoring her bleeding, Kyoka tries to encourage Koji.

Present Mic continues using his loud voice against Kyoka and Koji who are unable to handle it. Out of options, Kyoka asks Koji if he can control insects to which he approves. Kyoka uses her Earphone Jacks to break a rock which reveals dozens of insects, much to Koji's terror. Kyoka tells Koji that she understands his phobia but using the insects to attack Present Mic is the only plan she can think of because their opponent is too strong. Kyoka encourages Koji to follow through with her plan.

After seeing Kyoka's bleeding ears, Koji is ashamed that he is running away from this fight and realizes that he can only continue being at U.A. by overcoming his fear. Koji musters up the courage and commands the insects to attack Present Mic while Kyoka is annoyed he picked that moment to talk. At the escape gate, Present Mic sees that time is nearly up.

Koji overcomes his fears

Koji carries an injured Kyoka through the gate.

Suddenly, dozens of insects crawl on Present Mic, who realizes that the insects traveled to him by moving underground; a place where sound is ineffective. Present Mic is paralyzed by fear, allowing Koji to run through the escape gate while carrying an injured Kyoka with him; thus they pass the practical test.[25]

Back at U.A. in class, Kyoka learns that she has passed the written test and will go along with her classmates to the forest lodge which is a boot camp. Kyoka accompanies her class to the Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall to buy necessities for the forest lodge. At the shopping mall, Kyoka says that she requires a big carrying bag, to which Momo tells Kyoka that she will help her look for it.[26]

After Momo was invited to I-Expo she had a few extra invitations, so her, Kyoka, Tsuyu, Mina, and Toru played Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who would go to the preview of I-Expo. Both her and Ochaco won their chance to see the preview.

While looking around the expo, she, Momo, and Ochaco see Izuku talking with Melissa Shield, and suspect that they are on a date. Izuku clears up the misunderstanding and says that Melissa is showing him around the expo. The five go get tea at a café, and are surprised to see Denki Kaminari and Minoru Mineta, who are working as extra staff at the cafe. They soon meet Tenya, who is representing his family, reprimanding Denki and Minoru for slacking off.

Kyoka doesn't think highly of Denki and Minoru

"Those two idiots..."

They notice an explosion nearby, and the group finds out about the Villain Attack attraction, where they see Eijiro and Katsuki. Katsuki notices Izuku and is irritated, making a scene in front of the audience. Melissa watches in amazement at the young heroes around her, while Kyoka, Momo, and Ochaco express embarrassment at Katsuki's crude behavior.

Melissa invites the students to attend the reception party at 6:30 PM, and Momo helps choose formal clothes for Kyoka and Ochaco. The students are stunned at their formal clothes, embarrassing Kyoka and Ochaco. Denki and Minoru make inappropriate comments about how she is dressed, so Kyoka punishes them by using her Quirk on them. When Melissa arrives wearing a dress, Kyoka comments badly about Denki and Mineta's over-the-top cheerful reactions.

Melissa Shield wants to help save everyone

Kyoka and her classmates listen to Melissa.

However, the I-Island Security System sets off an alarm across the whole island, locking the central tower from the outside. Because their cell phones have no signal and the elevators are disabled, Izuku tells everyone to head over to the party because that's where All Might is.

With the help of Kyoka's Earphone Jack Quirk, they learn that the villain Wolfram has the island held hostage. Tenya suggests that the students escape since they can't legally fight villains, but Melissa reveals that I-Island's security is on par with Tartarus'. Shoto and Kyoka believe that they should try to help while Minoru and Momo believe they can't. Awkward silence is interrupted when Izuku says he wants to save everyone. After discussing among themselves, everyone agrees to try to help the heroes by disabling the security system.

Kyoka uses her Quirk to get through the tower.

They scale over fifty floors before being blocked by a closed shutter on the 80th floor. Minoru accidentally opens the door to the main section of the floor, notifying the villains. Before the shutters could close them off from both ends, Tenya and Shoto make an opening and lead the group into the plant factory. Kyoka notices the elevator coming up, so they hide. The villains in the elevator notice and attack Katsuki and Eijiro, who were lost. Shoto saves them and lifts the rest of the group up using an ice pillar.

The group find a small roof panel that leads to the maintenance room, and convince Minoru to complete the job. He succeeds, and the group advances past the 100th floor. They notice that the shutters are closed and deduce that the villains are trying to lead them somewhere, which turns out to be a swarm of security bots on the 130th floor. Denki attacks first with his Indiscriminate Shock 1.3 Million Volts, it turns out ineffective against the robots, so they resort to using Momo's smoke bombs. Izuku and Tenya use their power to break through the robot blockade. Tenya rescues the short-circuited Denki while Kyoka listens for more robots.

Kyoka fires a cannon created by Momo

Kyoka fires the cannon at the security bots.

In the server room on the 138th floor, the group agrees to stay back and fight the incoming security bots while Izuku, Melissa, and Ochaco continue up. Tenya uses his Recipro Burst and Momo creates a cannon that fires adhesive material. However, Tenya, Minoru, and Momo pushed themselves to their limits, so they are restrained by the robots.

They are set free when Melissa overrode the security system, and they head to the top of the tower. There, they encourage All Might and Izuku as they fight Wolfram, and cheered after his defeat. Kyoka is later seen hanging out with her classmates at a barbeque party.[27]

With the barricade gone, Togaru believes Katsuki's actions destroyed his team's protective shelter and dives towards the Class 1-A team to attack them. Setsuna orders him to take out Kyoka first because her Quirk is the most troublesome. Just as Togaru is about to land a fatal blow, Katsuki appears and kicks Kyoka away, hitting Togaru him with a powerful explosion at point-blank range.[59]

Class 1-B members are surprised with the behavior of Katsuki, causing they plan to fail, leaving them totally unprepared. Kyoka tries to hone in on Class 1-B but Setsuna's interference makes it difficult. She does notice that there are fewer sounds than before and Class 1-B is retreating. Katsuki surmises they're trying to regroup. He is not willing to allow it and chase them.

Heartbeat Surround

Kyoka uses her new move.

Yosetsu traps Katsuki with his Construction-Done-Kwik: Weldcraft, but Rikido acts quickly and frees Katsuki from his restraints. Katsuki flies at Yosetsu, who then tries to protect himself by attaching multiple steel plates to his body. It turns out that Katsuki was merely tricking him by blasting upwards and lets his teammates take out the enemy. Hanta carries Kyoka to the fight and she attacks Yosetsu with Heartbeat Surround, stunning him. Then, Hanta wraps up Yosetsu. Kyoka then directs Katsuki towards the remaining members of 1-B. One by one the members of the class 1-B team are defeated and captured by Class 1-A, with little to do to counterattack or defend themselves.[60]

The fourth Round of the Joint Training Battle ends with Class 1-A scoring a perfect victory with 4-0. Shota Aizawa commends Team 1-A for being able to cooperate well enough to reduce battlefield damage and efficiently capture the opposing opponents without any hassle. Class 1-A congratulates the winning team, with Denki remarking on Katsuki's abilities and calling Kyoka a true "heroine".[61]

After her round, Kyoka stays to watch the remaining round, which also ends with victory class 1-A with a perfect 4-0 victory.[62] Despite the fierce competition and the result, the exercise ends on good terms between both classes, and later Class 1-B visits Class 1-A's dormitories for socializing and dinner. Kyoka is hanging around Momo and Kendo.[63]

My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising[]

Izuku, Ochaco and Kyoka looking for a lost boy

Looking for a lost boy.

During fall, the Hero Public Safety Commission devises the Hero Work Recommendation Project, to help to train the new generation of Heroes due All Might retirement. Weeks go by, and shortly after winter begins, after the Hero Interview Training, Class 1-A is sent to Nabu Island, a remote place in southern Japan. The Pro Heroes who protected the island are about to retire, so the students will take care of the place, performing duties as real heroes acting like their own "Hero Office", until the arrival of new Pro Heroes.

Because Nabu Island is quite isolated from the rest of the country, and therefore far from any villain activity, there has been no notable incident since the last thirty years. For this reason, their work on the island basically involve mostly minor deeds. Ochaco gets a call from a little girl who lost his brother somewhere on the island, and calls across the room and asks if anyone can help her to find the lost kid. Izuku and Kyoka volunteer to help her.

Using her Earphone Jack, the three find the lost boy, Katsuma Shimano, at a nearby park after an hour of searching for him on the island, but in the end it turns out that everything is a prank from his sister Mahoro Shimano, who scolds Izuku for taking so long to find them, revealing that she was timing Izuku and the others on their arrival to their location. After the two kids leaves, Kyoka and Ochaco are confused by the exchange but Izuku doesn't mind about being scolded by the child. He is just happy the little boy is with his sister.

Momo, Kyoka and Mina Team Up

Momo, Kyoka, and Mina team up.

The next day, while Kyoka and several class 1-A students wait in the office waiting for requests, a neighbor and Fumikage arrive to report that the island is being attacked by a group of villains. Tenya quickly organize the class to face this crisis: She, Mina and Momo assist their classmate and Nabu inhabitants with medical evacuation. After Eijiro, Katsuki and Denki saved Yuga, Minoru and Toru from the villain Mummy, the girls bring them to safety as well as direct the citizens to the safe hold. When Mummy is defeated, Kyoka and Momo arrive to inform their classmates that they have already evacuated all the citizens of the area. Katsuki tells them to continue the evacuations as he heads off to find more villains.

However, Class 1-A fails to defeat the remaining villains, and they are forced to retreat. At night, the Class A members regroup at a factory where the rest of the island citizens are currently staying at due to the villain attack. The students provide them first aid, supplies and meals. Kyoka shows concern for Denki and Momo for using their Quirks to the limit to create a large a mount of supplies for the refugees.

Momo and Denki creating supplies

Kyoka watching Momo and Denki are creating supplies.

Later, all the students have a meeting where they discover that the objective of the villain leader, Nine, is to steal the Cell Activation Quirk from Katsuma. With this information, they devise a plan to approach them in front and keep civilians safe. The plan is to lure the villains to the furthest corner of the island where ancient castle ruins are. The heroes will engage the villains using the terrain to their advantage and spit the villains apart, so each member has to face several students alone. After his previous fight against Nine, Izuku concludes that Nine cannot use his multiple Quirks for too long as he suffers from intense pain when he does. To deal with Nine, everyone will attacks him in waves to force Nine to use his Quirks all the time until he reaches his limit and cannot continue fighting. Kyoka, Mashirao and Mezo are in charge of guarding Katsuma and her sister Mahoro while the remaining students face the villains.

Kyoka and Mashirao ambush Nine

Kyoka and Mashirao ambush Nine.

The next morning, Nine and his gang arrive at the entrance to the island. They fall into Class 1-A's trap and are forced to split up by Yuga and Momo's Ultimate Moves; and following Izuku's plan, the students take turns attacking Nine to force him to use his Quirks as much as possible. The students are on the verge of winning when, in his despair, Nine injects himself a high dose of Quirk's enhancer drug and defeats everyone.

The situation for Class 1-A is growing desperate. Kyoka and Mashirao tell Mezo to take the kids away while they hold off against Nine. They ambush the villain in a bridge, which they destroy by using Kyoka's Heartbeat Distortion and Mashirao's Tornado Tail Dance. Nine falls into the fissure but he quickly summons his sinuous dragon to escape, smashing Kyoka and Mashirao in the process. Mezo is about to escape with the children when he is attacked by Nine. The injured Mashirao and Kyoka catch them up and attack Nine with Mezo tackling, but the villain uses his Air Wall Quirk to blast all three of them away, defeating them.

Class 1-A helps in rebuilding Nabu Island 01

Class 1-A helps with the reconstruction.

Nine is in pain by dealing with the constant attacks from Class 1-A members, but his prize is finally now at his fingertips. Fortunately, Izuku and Katsuki arrive in time to confront him. While Kyoka is unconscious, Izuku and Katsuki manage to defeat Nine, saving the island and its inhabitants in the process. After Class 1-A emerged victorious over the threat, the military and a large number of heroes arrive on Nabu Island, rescuing the civilians and medically treating Class 1-A. The villains are arrested, and Class 1-A continues to stay on Nabu Island to help repair the damage done by Nine and his villains until the Public Safety Commission suspends the program and orders them to be sent home.

With the island being repaired by the military and the heroes, Class 1-A boards a ferry to return to the U.A. High School.[64]

Endeavor Agency Arc[]

Episode 101

Class 1-A's Christmas party.

Kyoka participates in a Hero Interview Training impart by Mt. Lady.[65] Days later, the Hero Work Recommendation Project takes place, staying on Nabu Island before returning.[64]

On the night of Christmas Eve, Kyoka celebrates Christmas with his classmates at Heights Alliance. When the class holds a surprise gift exchange, Kyoka gets a blanket of exotic patterns from Hanta.[66]

With Hero Work-Studies back in effect, Kyoka interns under Gang Orca alongside Mezo.[67]

My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission[]

Japan Task Force 2

Kyoka in the Japan Task Force.

Kyoka and Mezo are doing their Work Study with Gang Orca Agency when an anti-Quirk cult known as Humarise set off a Trigger Bomb in a major city, killing thousands and destroying the entire infrastructure. In response to the act of terrorism, the World Heroes Association gathers a large force made up of heroes from around the world to assault the branches that Humarise has in 25 cities around the world. The Gang Orca Agency, along with Fat Gum Agency, Present Mic, Cementoss and many other heroes make up the Japan Task Force.

The mission consists of assaulting all the branches that Humarise has in the world, with the Japan Task Force assaulting on the Humarise branch in Tokyo. Despite their successful raid, the heroes fail to locate the Trigger Bombs or their leader, and the same goes with the remaining branches stormed. Because of this, the WHA Director orders all the teams to stay in their assigned cities and be on standby.

Classmates shocked by Otheon news

Classmates shocked that Izuku is accused of mass murder.

While they are stationed in Tokyo, she receives news from headquarters saying that Izuku was accused of mass murder by the Otheon government, making him extremely armed and dangerous. These accusations cause great outrage among Izuku's classmates, who refuse to believe that he did something so heinous.

The situation gets worse days later when Flect Turn, leader of Humarise, publicly broadcasts to the entire world that they intends to denote several Trigger Bombs in less than two hours, in the twenty-five cities where the branches of his cult used to be. As the result, Tokyo is locked in a state of panic and chaos, so the Japan Task Force scrambled to quell the hysteria and locate the bombs.

Kyoka and Mezo trying to locate the Trigger Bomb

Kyoka and Mezo trying to pinpoint the bomb.

Gang Orca, his sidekicks, and the trainees use their searching Quirks to locate the bombs. Kyoka is reported that Izuku, Shoto, and Katsuki have found a disarming key that can disable the bombs, and they plan to storm Humarise's main base to do so. She notifies the team but Mezo tells her not to lose concentration and keep looking for the Trigger Bomb. Gang Orca locates the bomb and notifies the rest of the team members, who manage to get hold of it after defeating the Humanise soldiers guarding it. However, Mezo tells them that they have located two more Trigger Bombs, and right then Kyoka says that there is one more, all of them guarded by members of Humarise.

With no other choice, all of Tokyo's heroes fight tirelessly to prevent the disaster, until the count reaches zero. But to everyone's relief, none of the bombs go off, indicating that Deku's group has achieved their goal, saving the lives of millions of people worldwide. Once the crisis has been averted, Mezo and Kyoka return to U.A., where they meet up with all their classmates, celebrating that everyone is well.[68]

Paranormal Liberation War Arc[]

Winter break is over, and so is the Hero Work-Studies. The students return to the U.A. to continue their studies and show their progress.[69] Kyoka and Mezo, who worked with Gang Orca, show off their enhanced search techniques.[70] Later at night, Kyoka helps her classmates to organize a Work-Study/Brainstorm/Hot pot party to energize everyone for the new term.[71]

Villa Backup Team (Anime)

The Villa Backup Team wait for the signal to attack.

The months go by until it's late March. The Hero Public Safety Commission had uncovered the plans of Tomura Shigaraki and his organization, the Paranormal Liberation Front. They organize a large force of heroes to take the villain organization down. While a team of heroes raid the Jaku General Hospital, where the Nomu are created, another team does the same at Gunga Mountain Villa, the Front's main headquarters. Kyoka is a member of the Villa Backup Team along with many of her classmates and Class 1-B students. Their mission is to provide support to the heroes who raid the Gunga Mountain Villa and prevent villains from escaping.[72][73]

Using her Quirk, Kyoka learns that the enemy is on the move and the heroes tell everyone that while this operation has brought Heroes together on an unprecedented scale, it is no reason to relax because they need everyone present to help with the massive threat they are about to face. Kyoka remarks that she isn't too worried about Fumikage, but is more concerned for Denki, though Momo reassures her that he will be fine. Kyoka then hopes for a panicking Denki to complete the mission quickly and safely.[74]

Kyoka warns her teammates of an incoming danger

Kyoka informs the others that something huge is coming their way.

After the raid commenced, heroes gained the upper hand, taking down many of the Front's members.[75] However, the Jaku team allowed Tomura to awaken and he ordered Gigantomachia to come to him.[76] This results in the giant defeating many heroes as he simply walked towards Jaku City.

Kyoka is shocked to suddenly hear something big incoming, and informs her teammates about it. Shortly after, Midnight contacts Momo after failing to stop Gigantomachia. She orders her to use sedatives to put the hulking beast to sleep before losing contact. Momo comes up with a plan and orders Kyoka and Mezo to use their Quirks to determine the time it will take Gigantomachia to arrive at their location and the path he will use. Kyoka informs that Gigantomachia will not be long to arrive, when she and Mezo notice that Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods both holding on to Gigantomachia's leg, they slow him down just a little bit.[77]

Dabi notices Kyoka's earphone jack

Kyoka is attacked by Dabi.

This gives students enough time to set up a trap. Momo uses her Quirk to create a large number of vials of undiluted sedative, giving each student a vial. The plan is to try to get Gigantomachia to swallow at least a sedative to put him to sleep. Following her lead, Juzo uses his Quirk to soften up the ground and Momo creates explosives with her Quirk and plant them in the softened areas. They also position several chords covered in Minoru's orbs. As they planned, Gigantomachia steps into the students' trap and he falls to the ground. The strings covered in Minoru's orbs stick to his chin, and while the giant tries to get out, several students pull the strings to force him open his mouth, while the others charge at him to give him the sedative. Meanwhile, Kyoka and other students attack the PLF lieutenants that Gigantomachia carries on his back to prevent them from intervening. Kyoka tries to sneak attack them with her Amplifier Jack, but Dabi notices her and blasts her jack with his flames, causing her to retract it.

U.A

Kyoka watches Gigantomachia's destruction.

The PLF lieutenants and Gigantomachia manage to repel the initial assault, and Dabi creates a fire barrier to prevent the students from getting close, but several heroes arrive to help them,[78] and Eijiro finally manages to throw a vial into Gigantomachia's mouth. After creating fireproof suits, Momo drives Kyoka and other students away from the flames. Momo says that now that Gigantomachia has ingested the sedative, they need to make him move around so it will spread faster. She calls out to Majestic and he flies in with several other Pro Heroes to take him on.[79]

Annoyed by the constant interruptions, Gigantomachia takes on an armored appearance and easily attacks the heroes, continuing on his way to Tomura. Before being killed, Majestic uses his Quirk to bring the U.A. students to safety, who can only watch helplessly as the giant devastates everything in his path.[80]

After the War, Kyoka is seen informing Tenya that Fumikage and Denki have been discharged and are ready for release, having herself been discharged with just a burn scar on her left earphone jack.[81] She also arrived to wonder what was going on with Katsuki still yelling and complaining. Furthermore, Kyoka asks if Izuku is doing alright, with Ochaco responding that she is feeling worried.[82] As Best Jeanist and Hawks enter to talk with All Might, Kyoka, alongside Tenya and Ochaco, go into Izuku's room to check on their friend.

Later back at Heights Alliance, Kyoka and the rest of Class 1-A receive a letter from Izuku explaining the history of him being Quirkless and One For All, making him leave to avoid them being targets by All For One.[83]

Dark Hero Arc[]

A few days after Izuku left U.A., Kyoka joins a meeting with Class 1-A. She and her class deduce that Izuku is now working with Endeavor and his team. Kyoka says that All Might hasn't returned either, making them believe that All Might is involved with them too. A few days later, impatient with their response, Class 1-A pushed forward using Endeavor's U.A. Alumni status to confront him, where they learn the truth.

Heartbeat Wall

Kyoka attacks Izuku with her new move: Heartbeat Wall.

Once Principal Nezu gives Class 1-A permission to bring back Izuku to U.A, Kyoka joins with the class to search for Izuku while at the same time, apprehending any prison escapees along the way. After a month of trailing in Izuku's whereabouts, Class 1-A finally arrived on the scene to defeat the villain Dictator. When Izuku refuses to yield, he demands everyone to get out of his way, which means they'll have to fight.[84]

Kyoka attacks Izuku using her Amplifier Jacks to erect a barrier of sound waves called Heartbeat Wall, forcing him to jump away. She reminds Izuku the time he helped her to organize her notes ahead of the School Festival and just how much it meant to her, before falling over as Rikido catches her.[85]

She links up with the rest of the class to help push Tenya up toward Izuku to catch him.[86] She then listens to Katsuki apologizing to Izuku before he collapses from the shock and exhaustion. Once Izuku was secured, she escorts him back to a heavily fortified U.A. High where Class 1-A is confronted by angry protesting civilians.[86] They are aware that Tomura is after Izuku and fear them being in danger, leading Ochaco to give a pleading speech toward the crowd on why he needs their help and deserves to stay and rest, with the civilians eventually agreeing.[87]

Kyoka Jiro gathers the band members together

Kyoka getting the band back together.

After Izuku is escorted inside and given a bath by the boys, Class 1-A reconvene in the lounge room together, where Izuku finally passes out from exhaustion. Kyoka then points out how none of the evacuees U.A. is taking care of seem to be happy about the efforts the heroes are doing. With her Earphone Jacks, she drags in her former bandmates, Fumikage, Momo, and Denki to her side. Shoto asks where she's getting at as she recalls Class 1-A's moment during the School Festival, where there were certain people among the audience who were not happy about their status. Kyoka then tugs on Katsuki's shirt and pulls him to join her and their band-mates in the scene. She completes her statement, suggesting an idea on how to relieve and make people smile again as she points back to when they performed for the School Festival and how it was successful. Kyoka smiles, stating how they'll work to make the world a better place, by doing it together until the end.[88]

U.A. Traitor Arc[]

Class A stunned by Yuga's betrayal

Kyoka and Class 1-A devastated over Yuga's betrayal.

Two days later, Class 1-A learn that during this time, Tomura had fought American No. 1 Hero, Star and Stripe, and while she was killed during the battle with Tomura successfully stealing her Quirk, New Order, thanks to her actions, the Quirk acted like a virus within his body, destroying several of his Quirks and delaying his procedure by about a week. All Might informs all this to the class, telling them that this is now their perfect time to prepare for the inevitable all-out war. The class reveals over the past month they had been training with the Wild, Wild Pussycats in order to keep up with Izuku in the incoming conflict, and are now about to head out to continue their training.[89]

The class proceed to train amongst themselves in the courtyards outside. As Katsuki and Momo explain the issues they'll have to deal with in the upcoming War, Kyoka comments on Katsuki's description of All For One as "Ol' Nutsack", calling it gross.[90] Shortly after this, Kyoka alongside the rest of the class discover the news that Izuku has captured the Aoyamas and revealing Yuga to be the traitor who isolated the class at the U.S.J. and revealed the location of their training camp. Once the Aoyamas are restrained, she and the other class refuse to back down from the news despite Nezu's request, all in stunned and tears of Yuga's betrayal. She listens to Yuga's desperation that drove him to despair and then Izuku pleading to let Yuga help them, leading the class to realize Yuga may be the only one able to deceive All For One.[91]

Class A eager to take down All For One

Kyoka and the others vow to bring All For One down.

Shota then appears on a tablet screen, taking full responsibility and reveals that he has an idea. She listened to Shota's plan after the Aoyama Family's ears have been covered. Naomasa then has the Aoyama Family escorted back to their HQ, telling everyone not to say a word to anyone else about the plan while she and the rest of the class look on sullenly.

Back at Heights Alliance, Kyoka takes a breather, before getting ready to gear back up, as she and everyone, with fire and rage in their eyes over the betrayal, prepares to bring All For One down once and for all.[92] She joins up with their "Search Squad" to head out to hunt down the villains.[93]

Class 1-A say goodbye to UA evacuees

Kyoka says goodbye to her family one last time before the battle.

Later that night, the class return to Heights Alliance for a break, having come up with nothing in their search. Just then, All Might, Naomasa, and Nezu arrive, informing them all of their secret finalized plans for the upcoming Second War.

The next day, Nezu announces to the civilians that Tomura will make his big move in 4 days, with Class 1-A moving outside of the U.A. barrier to began prioritizing their safety. Kyoka says goodbye to her family members one last time before moving out Heights Alliance and into its upgraded makeshift fortress called "Troy".[94]

Final War Arc[]

In preparations for the Final War to defeat All For One and his army of villains, the Heroes plan to utilize Hitoshi Shinso's Brainwashing Quirk to get the Aoyamas to speak to All For One without any malicious intent, allowing the Heroes to lure the villains out to a specific location. They will then further catch the villains off guard by using Neito Monoma copying Kurogiri's Warp Gate Quirk to teleport themselves onto the battlefield.

Kyoka remains with Class 1-A at Troy until Izuku and Yuga successfully lure out All For One and the villains, where they are all teleported onto the battlefield. All Might then activates the "Troy" system trap, encasing the majority of villains into cages, delaying them long enough for them to be pushed into several more Warp Gates by the Heroes and separated.[95]

Kyoka and Fumikage join the team led by Endeavor responsible for dealing with All For One and several miscellaneous villains, ending up at the ruins of the Gunga Mountain Villa, where Hawks is waiting for them.[96] While Endeavor and Hawks deal with All For One himself in the air, Kyoka and the rest of the Heroes remain on the ground to deal with the remaining threats.

Kyoka and Fumikage save Hawks from All For One

Kyoka and Fumikage save Hawks from All For One's attack.

In the midst of the battle, All For One manages to catch Endeavor off guard, slicing him with a Quirk Combination attack, and is about to obliterate Hawks with his Air Cannon. Just then, Kyoka, riding Fumikage in his Black Fallen Angel state, uses her Heartbeat Wall to protect Hawks from the attack. After telling Fumikage to keep still as the two try to adjust to flying through the air, All For One recognizes them as the "gnats around One For All", likening them to the "side characters" in the old comics he read, who existed just to show how strong the Demon Lord was. Kyoka confidently responds back that he should save comments like that until he's actually beaten them.[97]

Hawks tries to warn the students not to interfere due to how dangerous it is, but Fumikage reminds him that they were sent there to help in case things got bad; Hawks reluctantly accepts their help. All For One decides to target the "weakest link" of the group, Kyoka, using a Mouth Quirk to shoot out an array of mouths from his fingertips, until Hawks uses some of his feathers to push her upwards out of the way.

Fumikage manages to catch her, with Dark Shadow asking if she is okay, and Fumikage following up asking her to use her sound waves to try and break All For One's mask. Kyoka suddenly starts to feel incredibly disturbed and tense over the near death experience, realizing just who Izuku and Yuga have been dealing with this whole time. While attacking Hawks with one hand, All For One uses his other to create a massive Quirk combination cannon aimed directly at the 1-A students. He mocks their anxiousness, asking if they're treating this like just another day at school like "deluded extras", blasting the cannon directly at them, despite Hawks' attempts to use his feathers to push it out of the way, leaving him vulnerable for another attack.

Kyoka's Earphone Jack blown off

Kyoka is severely wounded after her left Earphone Jack is blown away.

All For One continues to mock Hawks and the students' uselessness, asking the kids if being around the strong made them believe they were worthy of facing down the Demon Lord. Kyoka manages to survive the attack, but her left Earphone Jack was blown away, severely wounding her. Despite the pain, she angrily responds that all he does is talk about who's weak, strong, and special, while she doesn't care at all, only that he made her friends cry.

Fueled by her rage against All For One for hurting her friends, she blasts him with a powerful Ultimate Move, Heartbeat Surround: Legato. All For One attempts to retaliate through the vibrations, but is further resisted by the vestiges of his other Quirks from within, wondering how they were spurred on by the "weakness of pushovers". Hawks is able to take advantage of Kyoka's soundwaves, and thrusting his katana into it, he unleashes a Soundwave Vibration-Enhanced Flight Feather Blade, successfully damaging part of All For One's mask.[98]

Legato

Kyoka blasts All For One with Heartbeat Surround: Legato.

Kyoka then jumps off of Fumikage and Dark Shadow, telling them to attack now and catch her later. Fumikage proceeds to unleash a "Ragnarök: Fleeting Blow", creating a giant fist that smashes the rest of All For One's mask, destroying it. He then catches Kyoka, while Hawks mocks All For One for assuming they were just trying to buy some time. Hawks prepares to go in for the kill, but All For One retaliates, unleashing a hell of Rivet Stabs to attempt to reclaim the broken pieces of his mask. Hawks quickly goes to protect Fumikage and Kyoka from most of the damage, with the three then saved by Endeavor, taking the brunt of the Rivets and losing an arm in the process.[99]

She and Fumikage watched as Endeavor battles All For One, seemingly burning him to a crisp.[100] However, All For One survives using a reverse engineered Quirk-Destroying Drug, rewinding his body back to his prime state, which Fumikage recognizes as being just like Eri's Quirk. Hawks leaves the two students behind as he goes to try and deal with All For One.[101]

Ochaco reunites with Kyoka and Fumikage

Kyoka and Fumikage reunite with Ochaco who was teleported into the battlefield.

Unfortunately, the battle is falling apart when Kurogiri, freed by Spinner, teleports both Dabi from Kamino and Himiko Toga from Okuto Island onto the battlefield. Himiko, who has transformed into Twice, activates and unleashes Sad Man's Parade all over the battlefield, shocking Fumikage and Kyoka. As the Infinite Doubles swarm and Dabi's Blueflames start to overwhelm the Heroes, the two then reunite with Ochaco and Tsuyu after they chased Himiko through the Warp Gate. Tsuyu notices Kyoka having lost her ear, but she replies she was lucky that was all she lost against the Demon Lord. Ochaco says that all of Japan will be buried unless they stop Himiko, but Fumikage tells them Dabi's flames are too hot, and because there are so many Doubles outnumbering them, all they can do is flee for themselves now that their divide and conquer strategy has failed.[102]

After Fumikage has brought them down to safety, he flies back up in the sky to backup Hawks, while the three try to plan how to deal with the Twice Doubles. Tsuyu theorizes that Himiko hasn't Doubled any of the other Villains due to not being able to use any of their Quirks, since she doesn't "love" them, and because of her unstable emotions, they need to find the original as soon as possible.[103]

Shortly afterward the Heroes receive backup from the Shiketsu High School students to fight off both All For One and the Twice Doubles. Inasa Yoarashi targets most of the Doubles with his Whirlwind Quirk, while the close-ranged attackers deal with the remaining ones, while the long-ranged fighters attack All For One. Taking advantage of the darkness around them, Fumikage unleashes Dark Shadow at its ultimate power, transforming it into a giant monster that pummels All For One into the ground.[104]

As Fumikage continues his assault, Kyoka yells out to the Heroes to cover up Dark Shadow and block out any source of light, with Camie preparing to project an aurora sky with her Quirk to help. Before the Heroes could power up Dark Shadow, All For One unleashes a massive nuclear explosion that blasts away Dark Shadow, greatly diminishing him once again. A now visibly younger All For One attempts to blast his way out of the battlefield, with the Heroes giving chase. The tide seems to change in his favor when Gigantomachia suddenly appears, but instead the beast throws a part of the mountain at his master, as he is being rode by Eijiro and Hitoshi, who is brainwashing him.[103]

The Doubles start transforming into the Heroes

Kyoka gets ambushed by a Tsuyu-Double after transforming into her.

While some of the Heroes chase All For One, Kyoka and the rest of the Heroes stay behind to defeat the endless Twice Double swarm that's been rapidly increasing in volume. Thanks to Himiko unleashing, Sad Man's Death Parade, the Heroes become completely consumed by the wave of clones, unable to fight back.[105] During a confrontation with the real Himiko, Ochaco saves Tsuyu before she is stabbed by her knife, pulling her away and just barely grazing her.

Kyoka, carried by Kamui Woods, tries to catch the wounded Tsuyu falling toward her, only for Kamui to reveal he already saved her in his other arm. The Tsuyu falling toward Kyoka suddenly transforms and tries to attack her, only to be smacked away by Kamui. The Heroes realize that the Doubles have started drinking the blood spilled on the battlefield and have begun to transform into the other Heroes, with Kyoka shocked to see evil Doubles of herself. With the never-ending swarm increasing, and now the transforming Doubles stirring confusion amongst the Heroes, they believe there is no way to stop her now.[106]

Ochaco's Quirk Awakening

Kyoka watches in amazement at Ochaco's Quirk Awakening.

With rage fueling her insanity, Himiko unleashes Sad Man's Legion, releasing her Doubles to the absolute extreme on a gigantic scale. The swarm becomes an ocean and completely consumes all the Heroes, Villains, and Nomu alike, decimating the nearby city. Kyoka was among those swallowed by the ocean of Doubles as it washes over everything in its path. However, Ochaco undergoes a Quirk Awakening, allowing her to burst the ocean of Doubles open, causing everyone, including the Heroes, to start floating through the air. Kyoka is surprised to see all this, realizing her Quirk spread to all the bodies that were in contact with each other.[107]

However, Ochaco's Awakening worked too well as it causes other Heroes including herself to float upwards. She uses her right Earphone Jack to jab it into the ground to keep herself from floating up higher while everyone else is kept in the air by the Quirk. Kyoka watches as Ochaco is successfully able to reason with Himiko, getting her to confess to all her feelings and break down, just as the Twice transformation starts to wear off. She calls out to Ochaco as she sees all the Doubles fade away into the sky.[108] While she was being lifted, Kamui Woods latches onto her to keep her from going up even further. Ochaco proceeds to use her remaining strength to carefully ensure the exhausted and unconscious Heroes have a safe landing.[109]
